Site reworked with Wordpress and Gallery2
I’ve spent the past several days migrating my site from b2 evolution + gallery 1.4 to wordpress + gallery 2.1. The implications of this migration are more features, more security, and (in my opinion) a better layout. While migrating my old posts to the new site I decided to prune away some posts that made me think, “why on Earth did I write this?” Unfortunately, none of the comments could be migrated over. All the old pictures are still here and can be accessed from the Photos link at the top of the page. Currently there are only two albums– one from when I was in Taipei for vacation, and another from when I was in London for business, both from last year.
I decided on a black background with white text because, while people for centuries have used black ink on white paper without any problems, new technology brings to the table new advantages (and disadvantages) when it comes to the presentation and consumption of textual information. The natural color of paper is white; the natural color of a computer monitor is black. Just as there are costs associated with printing documents with black backgrounds, the power consumption of a monitor is greater when displaying a white background versus black backgrounds. I also tried to stay with a minimalist approach to the new design– maybe not as minimalist as the websites of some other people I know, but minimalist enough to my standards.
Anyway, I hope you like the new site, and if you have any comments please let me know.
